Managing Stormwater in Grey Highlands

The Grey Highlands Climate Action Group supported a deputation by the Ontario Headwaters Institute to Grey Highlands Council calling for significant improvements to a proposed plan that would see a large pipe deliver stormwater into the Rocky Saugeen. Watershed scientist, Jack Imhof, stated that the approach of the past of simply moving water “as far as humanly possible away” from human habitation, essentially using nature as a dumping ground, has proven detrimental in several ways including creating “deadly high water temperatures.” The Council has listened and committed to a thorough process to create a stormwater management master plan.
