Local Stories: Changing Weather
The Georgian Bluffs Climate Action Team is getting ready to launch a collaborative effort with Grey Roots Museum & Archives bringing a wealth of local data and stories to a travelling exhibition about Wild Weather.
The public launch of Local Stories: Changing Weather will take place on Saturday May 30, from 12 noon to 4 pm.
Highlighting this launch will be Voices for Climate Action, a concert featuring acclaimed song writers and musicians Luke Wallace and david sereda. Two live sets at 1 pm and 2:30 pm will take place outside on the Moreston Heritage Village Green. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket. Before, between and after the sets, contributors to the Local Stories exhibition will be present to embellish their stories in person. Voice for Climate Action was made possible by a grant from Community Foundation Grey Bruce.
Local Stories: Changing Weather, which will remain at Grey Roots Museum & Archives through December 2026, is a collection of a few of the ways that individuals, organizations and businesses in Grey and Bruce Counties are observing, understanding, and adapting to long term changes in weather patterns – climate change. Whether it’s a new barn design, an aeration system at the bottom of a lake, planting different crops on a different schedule or grounding the fishing boat to educate youth about the land, people are making positive changes to their business and recreational activities. Other positive adaptations are focused on practices that support healthy natural systems and reduce waste.
Many stories came in response to a call-out in local media, dozens of people and organizations contributed their stories, images, and observations and hope that these stories would lead to more. Solutions exist and together we can make a difference.
