Coordinating for Earth Day

GBCAN assists The Earth Day Grey Bruce Planning Committee in coordinating and publicizing the annual Earth Day Grey Bruce events that take place in Owen Sound. The Earth Day Grey Bruce Planning Committee is made up of volunteers who are residents of Grey Bruce and active in their communities, promoting climate awareness and the steps towards solutions.

Our goal is to champion a celebratory Earth Day event that educates and energizes us all to take steps towards climate action including mitigation, adaptation, and social justice.

Last April’s event was a huge success. We hope to again involve a diverse number of community groups to participate in a welcoming, child-friendly event. There will be booths offering information and resources on greener living, gardening, regenerative farming, mental health, accessing nature, alternative transportation, importance of trees, and initiatives for climate action. This year there will be a Children’s Area with activities offered by local groups. Our hope for 2023 is to go one step further in promoting actionable solutions towards protecting our planet for generations to come.

We need helpers at the March Break Art-making Workshops and for the big day: at our events and in the Parade!
